------------------------------------------------- University of Sussex - School of Life Sciences Location: Falmer Salary: £31,342 to £37,394 Per annum Hours: Full Time Contract Type: Contract / Temporary Placed on: 16th February 2015 Closes: 26th February 2015 Job Ref: 022 ------------------------------------------------- Fixed term for one year As an expansion of the School of Life Sciences translational drug discovery activities at the University of Sussex we are seeking an experienced ion channel pharmacologist with proven electrophysiology and drug discovery expertise. In this role you will contribute to the validation and prosecution of novel ion channel targets in the respiratory and neuroscience areas. An active practical scientist, you will contribute to the running of an in vitro laboratory with core capabilities in patch clamp (manual and automated) electrophysiology and epithelial ion transport (Ussing chamber). The lab employs heterologous and near primary cell systems to identify novel ion channel modulators and define their mechanism of action at the biophysical and molecular level. Additional responsibilities may include supervision of less experienced group members and students alongside regular interactions with researchers across scientific disciplines and research groups.
