A maximum starting point 23 £25,513.00 applies to this post. Hours: Full Time Contract Type: Contract / Temporary Placed on: 16th February 2015 Closes: 27th February 2015 Job Ref: 3090BR The Institute of Infection and Immunity at Cardiff University School of Medicine seeks to appoint a Research Assistant. The successful applicant will work in the research group led by Prof. Bernhard Moser on the isolation and characterisation of human T cells with potential antigen-presentation cell (APC) functions. One major research topic in the group of Prof. B. Moser focuses on T-APC, which are a novel type of cellular vaccine that may be used in the treatment of cancer patients. The concept underlying T-APC vaccines is their immune stimulatory functions. Following infusion into cancer patients, tumour antigen-presenting T-APC will mobilize endogenous, tumour antigen-specific T cells, which then participate in effective anti-tumour immune defence. The proposed studies will be carried out in collaboration with clinicians at the University of Birmingham and the results will form an essential part in our efforts to translate T-APC into the clinic. The post-holder will have a degree in relevant Biomedical Sciences subjects. Preference will be given to candidates with a proven ability to work with human T cells and notably those with an additional expertise in antigen-presentation to T cells. Interested parties are encouraged to contact Prof. Bernhard Moser (http://medicine.cf.ac.uk/person/bernhard-moser/) This post is full-time (35 hours per week) and is fixed for 6 months and is available from 01/03/2015 Please be aware that Cardiff University reserves the right to close this vacancy early should sufficient applications be received
